Huey B. Long was a founder of the Annual International Self-Directed Learning Symposium, an active Charter Member and Honorary Co-Chair of the International Society for Self-Directed Learning and is widely recognized as a leading researcher and publisher in the field. Dr. Long collected and consolidated the numerous research studies presented at the symposium over the years and contributed immensely to the expansion of literature and information about self-directed learning.

The Huey B. Long Scholarship covers the cost of the Symposium registration for graduate level students who meet the following criteria:

Submit a proposal for a poster or paper presentation (co-authored is acceptable)

a. Student status: Be currently enrolled in a graduate program in good standing (Provide a registration receipt or letter from advisor)

b. Submit a brief letter of application to the Scholarship Committee, including a pledge that you will attend the full Symposium, and volunteer to assist with the program. Application materials should be sent via email to plzsiga@yahoo.com with a copy to issdl.sdlglobal@gmail.com​​​​​
